Welcome to the Stat-Ease Academic Resource Center Whether you are a professor, student, or researcher, Stat-Ease has the resources to help you succeed in design of experiments (DOE). Check out our software, tutorials, free webinars, training, support forum, blog, articles & case studies, books, and newsletters below. For specific questions, try using the Search function. "No doubt that Design Expert is an excellent piece of software but above all I feel that your speedy replies to technical problems, online support materials, the Stat-Ease newsletter and training are the backbone to it! Your books on DOE and RSM Simplified and the training courses in Minneapolis really helped me in understanding the core techniques of experimental design. I loved the side bars in your books, your training materials, and of course the videos during breaks in the training session in Minneapolis. Thank you once again for all your help and support."
Stat-Ease publishes Design-Ease® and Design-Expert® software for design of experiments. Design-Ease software makes factorial designs easy to set-up and analyze. Design-Expert software does everything Design-Ease does, but also handles mixture/process designs and response surface optimization. Both packages are powerful, and their intuitive user-friendly interface makes them easy for any experimenter to use. Click here for more information on the software. Try either package free for 45 days. There are three types of academic licenses: In addition, we offer a training bundle for consultants offering short courses. Contact Stat-Ease for a price quote and specify which type of license you need. We can be reached at: Phone 612.378.9449 Online Interactive Tour & Tutorials If you have the software but need help learning how to use it, check out the Design-Expert Online Tour. You will also find it helpful to work through the software tutorials. 1. Design-Expert Online Tour (version 7.1, but still helpful)—Learn the basics of Design-Expert software by going through a two-level factorial design (the features explained also apply to Design-Ease software). 2. Design-Expert Tutorials—Become familiar with the software's features and capabilities and work through the problems provided to deepen your understanding. 3. Design-Ease Tutorials—Become familiar with the software's features and capabilities and work through the problems provided to deepen your understanding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Webinars Stat-Ease offers free webinars on a variety of design of experiments (DOE) topics. To see what's coming up and to check out PowerPoint presentations of past webinars, click here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Training The quickest and easiest way to learn design of experiments is to attend a 2-day workshop. Stat-Ease offers special workshop pricing for academic attendees. Maybe you have never studied statistics or have forgotten what you learned? If you aren't sure you are ready for a DOE class, take the online PreDOE course first (a $95 value you get for free! It takes 3-6 hours to complete. You can work at your own pace). You can assess your abilities by first taking the free self-assessment questionnaire—which is available as a pre-test within the PreDOE course—at www.statease.net. For training or pricing questions, or to register for a public workshop, e-mail Elicia Bechard, Workshop Coordinator, or call her at 612.746.2038.
Support Forum For statistical or technical help, go to the Stat-Ease Support Forum for Experiment Design. Once there, you can view FAQs and post questions and answers. The forum is open to everyone and is moderated. Check it out and weigh in!
Stats Made Easy Blog Mark Anderson publishes "a wry look at all things statistical and/or scientific with an engineering perspective" in his Stats Made Easy blog. Check out his fun posts here.
Articles & Case Studies Stat-Ease offers a wealth of articles on DOE. If you are new to DOE and would like to learn more about this subject, we recommend you begin with the articles below. 1. "Trimming the FAT out of Experimental Methods"—This article is a primer on DOE versus the traditional OFAT method of experimentation. 2. "Trimming the FAT: Part II"—This follow-up article offers a case study that illustrates how a two-level factorial DOE can reveal a breakthrough interaction. 3. "Rethink Experiment Design"—This is another article on DOE versus the traditional OFAT method. 4. "Eight Keys to Successful DOE"—Using DOE successfully depends on understanding eight fundamental concepts which are explained in this article. Click here to go the Articles page and see all available DOE articles and case studies. Also take a look at the Reprints page to see if there are any case studies you would like to have mailed to you.
Books Visit the Stat-Ease bookstore for recommended books on DOE. To get you off to a good start we suggest: 1. "DOE Simplified: Practical Tools for Effective Experimentation, 2nd Edition," by Anderson & Whitcomb—This updated introductory text covers all of the basic essentials and is filled with interesting anecdotes and sidebars that make it fun to read. It comes with 180-day version of Design-Ease 7.1 software so that you can work through the included practice problems. 2. "RSM Simplified: Optimizing Processes Using Response Surface Methods for Design of Experiments," by Anderson & Whitcomb—This book is the next step in your DOE education. Its simple and fun approach is for those who desire knowledge on response surface methods, but dislike the academic nature of other books on the topic. It comes with a 180-day version of Design-Expert 7.0 software so that you can work through the included practice problems. If you are interested in purchasing the books in quantity or for a bookstore, please contact the publisher, Productivity Press.
